Carleton, Marguerite King (Mac)

Passed away peacefully on July 8, 2017 after a bout of pneumonia.  She was a happy resident of Friendship Village for many years where she enjoyed her neighbors and friends.  She  is survived by her two daughters, Candice Carleton and Catherine (Don) Hamm; three grandsons, Nick and Andrew Hamm, and Ben Carleton; and one granddaughter, Kelly Carleton; and three great-grandchildren.  Mac graduated from the University of Minnesota in Home Economics and worked for the Minneapolis Gas Company before marrying Edward Carleton.  She was a marvelous cook and after school snacks were always a treat, not to mention those dill and bread and butter pickles.  She also tested early freeze dried foods for the YWCA camps.  She was a great walker and exercised around Centennial Lakes and walked to Byerly's for groceries when she lived in the neighborhood.  Memorial service will be Thursday, July 20th, 2017 ~ 11 AM  at Friendship Village, 8100 Highwood Drive, Bloomington, MN  55438.  Private interment ~ Oak Hill Cemetery.

I remember Aunt Mac as sharp, with a sense of humor and married to a handsome, nice man. She was down to earth and honest like my Dad ,her older brother. When we visited after my Mom passed away she was generous and paid for a lunch with the cousins and my Mom's sister Elizabeth. I believe they all met at the DG house and Aunt Tata introduced my Mom to her brother. Mac was a strong person and loved living at Freedom Village and made some beautiful quilts. Her niece, Betsy Werner
