Joyce Marie Kegley

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Joyce Marie was our devoted daughter, sister, wife, auntie, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Joyce graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis and St. Catherine's University in St. Paul.  After college graduation she was selected for a position with the State of Minnesota as an Adoption Services social worker. Joyce also served for decades as a community volunteer, including as the coordinator for the Emergency Housing project with the League of Catholic Women and as an election judge for the State of Minnesota. Joyce was proudly of Irish ancestry, and was preceded in death by her father, Richard Call; mother, Mary Quinlan Call; infant sister, Mary; mother -in-law, Marie Sack Kegley; father-in-law, Leon Roger Kegley; sister-in-law, Mary Mahowald Call; and brothers-in-law, Gerald, Thomas, Noel, and Leon Kegley. Joyce is survived by her devoted brother, Richard J. Call(Annette) of Montana; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Huberty, Carol Berthiaume, Ellie Kegley, Terry Kegley; brother-in-law Don Huberty, and many nieces and nephews. In September of 1954 Joyce married John R. Kegley, sharing over 62 years of loving married life, and to whom she is survived. Joyce is also survived by her children, John Patrick, Mary Joyce Endersbe (Jerod), Kathleen Quinlan, and Anne Terese. She was the overjoyed grandmother to Tyler John Mather (Karmela), Thomas Charles Mather, and her beautiful great-grandson, Noah Aruna Mather. Joyce enjoyed decades of laughter with her many friends and neighbors, including dear friends, Helen Sahlin, Rhea Evanson, Patricia Miller, and Shirley McKinney.  She was also a "pet mom" over many years to her wonderful, goofy dogs and one very large cat. Loving mystery novels and hard-boiled detective movies, Joyce was also a dedicated reader of her three Sunday newspapers and always took solace in a perfect cup of strong coffee. Joyce Marie passed away peacefully at home from complications of cancer on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2017.    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 23rd at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5029 Zenith Ave. S. Minneapolis MN with visitation one hour prior.  Burial to follow at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
