Age 92, formerly of Crystal, MN, passed away on May 15, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Bernard; sister, Evelyn Hopkins; son-in-law, John Bohling; grandson, Grant Wardrop. She is survived by her children, Brian (Grace McGarvie), Kathryn (Andy) Wardrop, Barbara (Michael) Moeller, Mary (David) Thibert, & Patty Bohling (Reid Waldeland); grandchildren, Paul, Ellen, Claire, Lisa, John, David, Kristin, Viorica, Mariana, Elizabeth, Matthew, Kenneth & Kelly; great-grandchildren, Jason, Marissa, Kyung, Mason, Avery, Nadia & Evan. Jay graduated from St. Olaf College in 1946 and taught English in LeCenter, MN, where she met her future husband, Bernard. For most of her professional life, Jay was a librarian, first at Hennepin County and later for the Anoka-Hennepin School District. Her love of literature and poetry was extensive and she easily quoted poems, authors and especially children’s books. Jay also loved crossword puzzles, playing cards and international travel.When not traveling, Jay loved spending time at the family cabin in northern Minnesota and at their winter home in Sun City, AZ. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, May 19 at 11 AM at Church of the Annunciation, 509 W. 54th St, Minneapolis. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church. Private interment Ft.
