Gordon W. Olson 80 years old went to heaven on May 8, 2017. He was able to be at home surrounded by friends and family.

Gordon was born on September 18, 1936 on the family farm in Brantford, North Dakota to Alice (Black) Olson and Lloyd Olson. Gordon was one of six children in the Olson family. Gordon graduated from West Fargo High School in 1954. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where he received his BA in Psychology and Music.

Gordon and Mary were married on June 6, 1959 in Austin, Minnesota. They have 4 children Laurie, Linda, Diane and Erik.  Gordon’s career in church music included choirs in Rush City, Luverne, North Branch, Mpls, Navarre and Golden Valley, Minnesota.   He also worked at Augsburg Publishing House as the head of the music department.

In retirement, Gordon was the Executive Director for the National Lutheran Choir working with his college friend, Larry Fleming.
