he was a saint, with all the qualities that we associate with saints and saintliness: faith and goodness and decency and mercy and bravery and devotion. when I became minister of a downtown united Methodist church, gary gave me a medallion with an angel. it wasn't a good-luck charm. rather, it was a blessed symbol of him and his angelic presence. he will be missed daily by us all. a saint and angel.

Gary was the partner and caregiver of our nephew, Loren. He has been a beloved and caring friend to us. What a true angel on earth! We will always fondly remember him. Duane & Donna Erickson.

Even though I never knew Loren, Gary shared with me how important your love and acceptance was to him. Wishing you the comfort of sweet memories of Loren and Gary.

Gary and my family have been neighbors for over 20 years. His strength, kindness, perseverance and selfless way of being in the world had an effect on everyone who lived near him. A friend to all and such a positive force for good in the world. Deeply saddened he has left us.

We hear the word "saint" used a lot when people discuss Gary Mazzone. To me, this is the word that describes him most accurately. His life was certainly not an easy one. But he lived it with a grace I've never encountered before. He loved so genuinely. He lived his truth and shared his light wherever there was a want or need. I only knew Gary for a few short years (far too few), but I cherished him dearly. When I first learned he had left us, I felt the sun had gone out in the universe. He brought such light and warmth with him. Since then, I've come to understand that it is my obligation to Gary to do my best to pick up his torch and carry on. I know he would want each of us whose lives he touched to bring his light to others, to pay forward the gifts he gave to us all. Blessed peace to you my friend, and gratitude for the life you shared with us.

Gary was our neighbor for 17 years. The day was always sunnier when we had a chance to interact with him - which was fairly often as he was a wonderfully social person. He genuinely cared about all the living beings around him, whether they were human or animal. We cherish our memories of him and will miss him dearly.

I have Gary for many years. He touched the life of anyone who ever met him. Two legged and four legged. He always had Emma with him where ever he went. RIP my dear friend. You will be missed.
