Ernest C. Tam, age 93, passed away peacefully at home. Preceded in death by wife, Lillian; brothers, Joe and Albert. He is survived by brothers, Robert and Walter; children, Bruce (Jeanne), Ron (Dorla), Sandra and Jeff (Joan); grandchildren, Angela (Chris), David (Angela), Kyle, Marisa and Michael and 2 great-grandchildren. Ernest was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Hung En Tam and Betty Ching Tam, moved to Minnesota after Pearl Harbor and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He served in the 8055 MASH unit during the Korean War as an anesthesiologist. He returned to Minnesota to practice anesthesia until 1978 when he retired to become a familiar sight on the golf course most mornings for many years. He is also remembered as an avid reader, always with a large stack of library books. Funeral service 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 7300 – 42nd Ave. N., New Hope with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the University of Minnesota, Future Physicians Scholarship.
