Jacqui Page Gardner

Thursday, April 14, 2016

Jacqui Gardner, age 84, preceded in death by her loving husband George J. Gardner, passed away Thursday, April 7th, 2016. She was a loving mother, dear friend, as well as a great philanthropist and humanitarian. Everyone who knew her was touched by her compassionate heart and true zest for life. When you walked in Jacqui's wake, you felt as though you had just met your best friend in the world.

Jacqui participated in and donated to many fine charities in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Including but not limited to the Park Nicollet Frauenshuh Cancer Center, the Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis, the Minnesota Sinfonia, the Carondelet Sisters of St. Joseph, Catholic Elder Care, and the Janice Gardner Foundation (established by her husband George) which contributes to many smaller charities as well as peoples in great need.

For many years Jacqui sat on multiple Board of Director charities lending her natural people skills and business acumen to their individual causes. She was an active member of the Minneapolis Women's Club, the League of Catholic Women and the International Hearing Foundation.  She was particularly proud of her association with the Martha J. Ripley Foundation, her great-grandmother's legacy.

Before marrying her husband George, Jacqui lived in Southern California working as a speech therapist for the City Schools where she eventually headed up the entire San Diego City School's speech therapy program. And as a young mother just establishing herself in her chosen career, to supplement her income, she became the first women to sell Fuller Brush household products door to door.

Jacqui's immediate family is small but filled her heart with love and pride. Both her daughter and step son meant the world to her. Every telephone call ended with her saying "I love you dearly...always have and always will".  And she meant it.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 14th at 12:00 pm at the Basilica of St. Mary (88 North 17th Street, Minneapolis, MN). A visitation will commence one hour prior to the service at 11:00 am with a light lunch held in the undercroft following the service.  Private entombment at Lakewood Mausoleum

In lieu of flowers, please offer a donation to any one of the charities listed above or one of your own choosing.
