Harold Leroy Nelson, age 91 of Bloomington died on September 24, 2015 at Fairview Southdale Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 28th at 11:30 a.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave. S., Bloomington with visitation one hour prior to service only. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Harold was born on April 29, 1924 in Worthington, MN, the son of Arthur and Leona Nelson. He attended school in Worthington and graduated from Worthington High School in 1942. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving from 1943-1946. Harold married Violet Fannie Hindt on May 19, 1952 in Worthington. Preceded in death by wife, Violet and sister, Roberta Marie Nelson Good. Survived by daughters, Jane (Glenn) Larson, Bonnie Nelson, Lily (Matt) Rose and Vicki (Kurt) Wheeler; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and niece, Glenda Lais.

Patricia Mae Smith (Plante)

Patricia Smith, age 88 of Mpls. (formerly St. Paul) passed away on October 1st after a courageous battle with numerous health maladies.  Preceded in death by her husband Elmer “Wally”, parents, Francis and Eleanor, and brother, Robert Plante.  A 1945 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy she is survived by her sons Bruce  and Greg (Kim), grandchildren Michelle, David, L/CPL. Paul Smith (USMC), as well as her dearest friend of 83 years, Mary Jane Sperl (St. Martin) of West St.Paul, and several cousins. She will be missed more than she could ever know. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be performed on Tuesday, October 6 at 11:00 A.M at Annunciation Catholic Church, 509 W. 54th St, Minneapolis. Visitation 1 hour prior to service at church and interment at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to Annunciation School or donor’s favorite charity.

McDonough John J. Age 94, of Bloomington, MN passed away on October 3, 2015.  Preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude and granddaughter, Amy Holllister. Survived by children, Colleen McDonough, Jack (Sandi) McDonough; 4 granddaughters and 3 great grandchildren. Also many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

He grew up in St. Paul, MN and moved to Bloomington, MN in 1958.  John was a 33 year employee of The Aslesens Company.  A day spent with his family and relatives was the best way he could spend his time.  He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and traveling in His RV.  He and Gertrude spent 25 great winters in Florida and following the sun. 

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10 a.m. at Nativity of Mary Church, 9900 Lyndale Ave So, Bloomington, MN 55420.  Visitation  Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave So, Bloomington, MN 55420 and 1 hour prior to Mass at Church. Maxwell, Mary Lou of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2015 surrounded by her family.  A master gardener and psychologist.  Preceded in death by son, Rusty Maxwell.  Survived by daughters, Palmer Bridges, Fabienne Bridges and Randee Cruz; son, Steve Maxwell; granddaughter, Brett Denevi; grandsons, Rory O’Malley, Sean O’Malley, Matthew Bridges and Lewis Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Sylvia and Jack Denevi; sister, Jacqueline Winchester; long-time partner, Bill Jaffa; family and friends.  Thank you to the staff of Allina Hospice for their care and support.  A celebration of Mary Lou’s life will be held at a later date.  Memorials preferred to donor’s favorite animal shelter.

Myrna Rose Sonsalla

Myrna Rose (Groleau) Sonsalla, age 67, of Richfield, MN died Saturday October 10th, 2015 surrounded by family.

Myrna was born November 8, 1947 in Nahma, MI the daughter of Rosario and Myrtle (Pomeroy) Groleau. She graduated from Nahma High School in 1966 and attended Bay De Noc Community College. Myrna worked in the Nursing Program at Bay De Noc College as a secretary, Donalson’s Warehouse in Minneapolis, Dowling School, Minneapolis, Lincoln Hills School, Richfield, and New York Life Insurance in Bloomington. She also did daycare in her home in South Minneapolis for 5 years.

Myrna’s hobbies included spending time with her kids and friends, playing games, reading and watching TV. She was also a member of TOPS and Red Hats Society.

She is survived by children, Troy, Travis and Trisha Sonsalla, sister, Connie (William) Hardwick, brother, Rodney (Yvonne) Groleau and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, her sister and brother-in-law Judy and Richard Segerstrom preceded Myrna in death.

Myrna’s family will receive family and friends on Friday October 16, 2015 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, MI. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM followed by Vigil Prayers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Nahma, MI with Rev. Fr. Mariusz Sierhart officiating. Burial will follow at the New Garden Cemetery in Garden. Luncheon will follow at the Nahma Township Hall.

Passed away on October 9, 2015. Born January 29, 1927 in Cleveland, ND, to John and Alma Maus. Her family moved a lot because of her father’s lumberyard job. She graduated high school from Minnehaha Academy. She married Gerald Dufour in 1964. They lived in New Hope most of their married life. She was employed at Bloom Brothers for 52 years as office manager. Connie and Jerry enjoyed many years going to their home in Garrison, MN. Connie loved to read and go to the casino and enjoyed her many dogs that she had over the years. A special thank you to the staff at Sunrise of Golden Valley for their wonderful care these past three years. Also a thank you to the hospice staff, who gave Connie loving care at the end of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Dufour, her parents, John and Alma Maus; brothers, Kenneth Maus, Duwayne Maus; sisters, Inez Rasumssen, Marilyn Blegen, Dulis Marcotte, and Gwendolyn Maus. She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Ruth Maus and Lorraine Maus; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
