Sartain, Margaret C.
Age 91 of Minneapolis, passed away on Monday, March 2nd, 2015.  Born April 21, 1923 in International Falls, MN to Edwin F. and Edith T. (Boe) Dahl.  During her nearly 92 years, Margaret was always vibrantly oriented toward life.  She inspired others with her charm, wit, faith, gracious manner and unconditional love.  She faced many tragic losses in her life with courage and hope.  Among her greatest joys were her five children, Carol Peterson (Ron), Pamela Aronson (Terry), Claudia Grotberg (Tim), James Sartain (Dennis Slavin), Jeffrey Sartain (Mark Sedio); and her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed needle-work, volunteering at Augustana Care Center and Apartments, savoring a sweet roll with coffee and being a fun and faithful friend to people of all ages.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, in 1962.  She will be dearly misssed by her family, members of her church community, and many friends.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 7th at 11 AM, Plymouth Congregational Church, 1900 Nicollet Avenue S., Minneapolis, MN  55404.  Visitation one hour prior to service and a luncheon will follow.  If so desired, memorials may be directed to Augustana Care ~ 1007 East 14th Street, Minneapolis, MN  55404

Henry Joseph died on March 6, 2015. He was born March 18, 1926 in South Bend, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and two sons, Bruce and Kyle. He will be missed and is survived by wife of 67 years, Mary Helen and children, Mark (Connie), Karla (Paul Nichols), Claire (Gary Swanson), Beth (George Dahm), Kevin (Carol), Korinne (Dave Krolow) and daughter-in-law, Kristen. There are 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren who survive him. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 10:30 AM at the Church of The Annunciation, 509 West 54th Street. Interment Oak Hill Cemtery. James D. "Jamie" Becker

Sergeant First Class James D. Becker (Jamie) died unexpectedly while stationed with his family at Fort Riley, KS on February 28th, 2015 at the age of 39.  Jamie's passion for life was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. 
James was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1975.  He is survived by his wife Jennifer, daughter Emily, and son Jacob, mother Mary Becker and father Tony Becker, grandmother Ramona Becker, siblings: Michael Becker and his wife Angie, and their three children - Maggie, Grace, and Sam, Mara Habeck and her Husband Jason, Katherine Becker, Thomas Becker, and Abigail Becker. 
Jamie holds a special place in many hearts.  His extensive military career and commitment to nursing has created many pockets of people remembering his life near and far.  Most of all we remember his absolute devotion to his family.  There was never a dull moment; he took every opportunity to create lasting memories with family and friends. 
Please join us in celebrating Jamie's life on Wednesday, March 11th 2015, at 12 Noon, at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel, 200 Tower Ave, St. Paul, MN.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to service at the chapel. Burial will follow the service at 1:30 PM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  A gathering will be held at the Fort Snelling Officers' Club following the burial, for friends and family to celebrate his amazing life.  The family is requesting a strong showing of Red, White, & Blue to remember Jamie's love of his country.  In lieu of flowers, the family requestes donations in SFC James Becker's name for the Wounded Warrior Project, donations can be made by phone, 855-448-3997, or mail, P.O. 57, of Bloomington, passed away on March 3, 2015. Born Nov. 21, 1957. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Karpovitz Sr. Survived by mother, Joyce L Karpovitz and brother, Jerry Karpovitz. He was an employee of Ziegler CAT for 15 years. A graduate of Bemidji State University, he enjoyed reading, casino hopping, travel, Sudoku, puzzles, crossword puzzles, painting and yard work. Loved by many, he was a very helpful kind and caring person. God bless you Chuckles, we will miss you. Memorial service will be on Saturday, March 14 from 11 AM to 2 PM at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave S, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

Catherine M. Christensen, age 88 and longtime resident of Bloomington, MN passed away on March 14.   Catherine was born in Northfield, MN on May 17, 1926 and grew up on the family farm.  She was married to Earl Christensen for 59 years with whom she raised 5 children.  She loved traveling, spending time at their cabin, animals, and all things Irish.  Most of all, Catherine loved her family and any time she could spend with them.  Her kind and gentle heart and sense of humor will be greatly missed.  She is preceded in death by husband, Earl; parents, Catherine and Louis Tschann; sister, Margaret Jean; and brother, Louis.  Survived by children, Pat (Al) Melin of Duluth, Jude (Tom) Brase of Red Wing, Richard (Cassie) Christensen of Apple Valley, Diane (David) Miller of Bloomington and Kellie (Trish Lugtu) Christensen of Maple Grove.  She was a loving grandma to Nick and Nate Brase, Jessie Rasch, Bailey Balzer, Corey Christensen and a great grandma to Sabine, Renen, Olivia, Claira, Penny and Eliza.   Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am Tuesday, March 17th at Nativity of Mary Church, 9900 Lyndale Ave S., Bloomington.  Visitation Monday 4-7 pm at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave S and one hour prior to Mass at Church.  Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Memorials preferred to Red Wing Hospice.

Brownrigg, Gertrude “Trudy” age 86 of Bloomington, a faithful servant of the Lord, died peacefully at Hennepin County Medical Center on March 13, 2015. Preceded in death by parents, Louis and Sophie Safranski; husband of 50 years Gene Brownrigg: brother, Ted Safranski; sisters, Irene Burke and Lucille Hickey. Survived by children, Joe (Kathie) and their children, Alyonah and Valentina; Anne Kern and her children, Jordan (Amy), Nick and Georgie; Tom and his daughter, Alex; 3 great- grandchildren; sister, Delores Lutz. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am Wednesday, March 18th at The Church of Saint Bonaventure, 901 E. 90th St., Bloomington. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at the Church only.
