Age 89, of Bloomington, passed away November 5, 2014. June Anderson was born June 2, 1925 to first generation Swedish parents in rural Shafer, Minnesota.
She grew up with 2 brothers and 3 sisters on farms throughout Chisago County. She knew the meaning of hard work and also the joy of living close to nature. Over the years we heard many stories of life on the farm during the depression, friendship, one-room schools and Chi-High, and the fun of fishing, running in the woods and skating on the frozen lakes.
With the advent of World War II, she followed her 2 older sisters to California where she joined the ranks of Rosie the riveter in the aircraft industry. Following the war, she returned to Minnesota with the death of her father.
While working in Minneapoiis at Claris Camera, she met her husband, Bill, who passed in February. They were married for almost 64 years, living in Bloomington.
Mom spent many years as our devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed her bowling league at Lyn-Del Lanes, spending time at the lake and had a huge vegetable garden at their cabin on Hibbert Lake.
With the kids in high school, she worked at Jack’s Bakery, Sherman Bakery, then at Munsingwear in Minneapolis.
Mom was an amazing seamstress, and enjoyed counted cross stitch, knitting and crocheting. In later years she loved her home organic garden and has always enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook!
