Bradley Arthur Allen

Monday, September 8, 2014

Allen, Bradley A. Age 52 of Bloomington.
Brad lived 50 of his years in his childhood home in Bloomington. He was a competitive swimmer through high school, graduating from Kennedy High in ’79. He golfed, played tennis and hockey, canoed the BWCA, and loved to fish. In the 80’s, he coached a swim team in Rock Springs, WY. Returning to Minnesota, he managed several convenience stores, spending much of his adult life in this line of work, as well as uniformed security. He really enjoyed visiting with new and old friends, especially if they shared his love of classic cars (his was a ’67 Catalina), 70’s & 80’s rock music, classic television, Frisbee golf, and the Twins and Vikings (no matter what!). Sporting a high IQ, he also had a healthy sense of humor – there was never a doubt when something touched his funny bone, as his laugh was boisterous and infectious. He certainly had a tender side, writing poetry, and caring for 2 dogs and 7 cats over his 52 years. Although Brad’s health declined over the last decade, he frequently enjoyed computer war simulations, was an excellent chess player, and loved to put on his chef’s hat. He dearly loved his family, and was a caregiver to both parents in their final years. Most importantly, just 49 days before his death, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Your family and friends will miss you greatly; God bless you, Brad.
Survived by brother Jack (Jean); nephews David and Ryan (Brittany); Uncle Alden (Karina), and cousins Rick (Kay), Bruce (Anna), Kurt, and Julie (Wade). Preceded by mother & father, Dale & Mary Lou. Memorial service Thursday, 11:00 AM at Atonement Lutheran Church, 601 E. Old Shakopee Road. Visitation 1 hour prior to service.
