Virginia Bennett passed away in her sleep on September 11, 2023 in Medina, Minnesota at age 96. Virginia grew up on a dairy farm in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, with her parents, Jack and Elizabeth, and her older brother, Robert. After graduating from Elkhorn High School, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a degree in psychology. She married a medical student, Ralph Bennett, and they raised their three daughters in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. While in Ladysmith, she obtained a teaching degree from Mt. Senario College. After divorce, she moved back to Elkhorn and lived there for many years. She obtained a master’s degree in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She was a volunteer at the library and at assisting seniors with tax preparation. She was active in the travel club and the historical society. Later in life, she moved to New Hope, Minnesota to be nearer to family.
Virginia loved reading, cooking turkey dinners with all the fixings, baby-sitting cats, the theater, and attending lectures on broad topics, but her greatest joys in life were her daughters and grandchildren. Virginia will be deeply missed by her daughters—Susan (Timothy), Amy, and Penelope (Jeffrey)—and by her grandchildren—Michael, Andrew, and Hannah (Mike).
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Wealshire in Medina for taking such good and gentle care of her in her final two and a half years of life.
