Obituary for Thomas Leo Mauren

We are sad to announce the passing of Thomas (Tom) Leo Mauren, 63, of Chanhassen, Minnesota. He was born in Minneapolis on November 20, 1959, to Leo and Marian Mauren. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1978 and later in life he completed a bachelor’s degree in engineering Bemidji State University. Tom is survived by his wife Michelle Mauren and their children, Nick (Sarah), Christine (Josh), David (Katie), Anna (Desireé), Jonathan (Eva), siblings Marilyn (Jeff), JoAnne (Marshall), Nancy (Mike), Larry (Patty), Sue (Matt), Patty (Jim), fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and too many nephews and nieces to name. In addition to his human family, his beloved dog Bailey will miss their daily trips to the park to play frisbee.

Tom spent most of his adult life as an engineer in the tool and dye industry; he loved working with his hands - at home he was always building, remodeling, and fixing things. His hobbies included fishing and hunting and as he neared retirement, he taught himself the art of pencil drawing, producing some amazing artwork. Tom loved spending time with his family, playing games, camping, and visiting the North Shore. He was an avid dog owner and trainer.

His family will miss his humor and wit. Family gatherings will not be the same without his goofy and fun presence.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Church Chapel 9301 Eden Prairie Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55347 on Saturday, August 5 at 1:00 pm; a reception will follow. Enter through door #2. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family or Underdog Rescue.
