CHANGE OF SERVICE DATE

Johnson, Thomas Joseph (Tommy, TJ) Age 88, of Mpls, went to the Lord on August 21, 2020, a
victim of COVID-19. Preceded in death by Mary Ellen, the love of his life for 46 years, parents,
Melvin and Alma, and brothers, Harvey and Richard. Survived by children, Mark (Joan), Mary
(Gregg) Alexander, Annie (Michael) Anderson, David (Jamie), Peggy (Tim) Williams, Bridget
(Dan) Johnson, Denise (Scott) Curran, Diana (Terry) Nolz, and Holly (Joe) Ameduri; 25
grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was born in Minneapolis on June 19, 1932 and
was a 1950 graduate of Roosevelt High School. He was an honored veteran and proudly served
his country with the US Army from 1952-54 in S Korea. Upon return, he graduated from the U of
MN and began a 43 year career with the Minneapolis Park Board. A dedicated volunteer, he
served at the Church of the Annunciation and on the DeLaSalle Board of Directors. He loved
spending time with his family, golfing, bowling, gardening and being outside. Tommy was known
for always recognizing someone he knew no matter where he traveled. Though he died
separated from his family by a window pane, we know he felt our love. The family wishes to
thank the staff at Wealshire of Medina. Their compassion and caring are greatly appreciated.
A private service will be held Tuesday, September 8th. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the DeLaSalle Brother Michael Collins Fund
(https://delasalle.com/development/make-a-gift/) or the Alzheimer’s Association.

A recording of the service is available at Church of the Annunciation Facebook page.
