Obituary for Thomas Patrick Carroll

Carroll, Thomas P, age 70, passed away at his home in Orono, MN on July 19th, 2019. Tom is survived by a brother Michael Carroll ( Lynne ), sister Sally Carroll Wingate ( Greg ), nephew Daniel Carroll ( Elizabeth and children Brody and Ryan ) and niece Elizabeth Hamner ( Ron and children Katelyn and Ellie ), uncle Gerald Carroll ( Janice ) of Minneapolis, aunt Jane Leach of Los Angles and cousins Jeff Carroll, Dave Carroll, Nancy Engh, Sandy Seitz, Steve Leach, Dave Leach and ex-wife Carol Nelson Carroll. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents John R ( Bud ) and Jeanne Carroll, and his uncle Thomas Leach of Los Angeles. Tom was born in Mpls. and graduated Benilde HS “66 and the U of M-Duluth in 1970. After college Tom pur-sued a highly successful career in hardware and software technical sales, working for IBM Corp, Norstan, Digital Sound, PictureTel and Lucent Technologies. Later in life, Tom used his life skills and knowledge to volunteer his time with the American Diabetes Association, speaking at Na-tional Conferences and working with local events associated with Diabetes Education. Tom would have loved to see a cure for juvenile onset diabetes in his lifetime. He also volunteered his expertise teaching gun safety classes for children and adults in his spare time. As an out-doorsman and co-founder of “Shoot & Release Ringnecks”, he split his time between pheasant and duck hunting, and his passion for golf and delighting friends and family with his expert cook-ing skills over an outdoor grill. He carried a positive attitude and a warm personality throughout his life, and for this he will be missed by so many. Memorial to be held on Sat., August 17th at 2:00pm at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel in Mpls., MN with a reception to follow. Private in-terment.
