Obituary for Russel Milton "Russ" Lee

Age 94, of Bloomington, passed away on November 6, 2020. He was born on Sept 10, 1926 in Ellendale, MN. He graduated from Ellendale High School in 1944 and then received a Bachelor of Science from Mankato State College in 1954, before receiving his Master of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1964. Russel was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific with Navy SeaBees, and was in the initial occupation of Japan at the close of WWII. He was a school teacher and administrator for 34 years. He started as a business teacher in Welcome, MN where he became Senior High Principal. Moved from there to Belle Plaine, MN as Senior Principal. Moved from there to Bloomington, MN, where he was Vice Principal at Lincoln Senior High School for 20 years, Oak Grove Junior School for 5 years, and Jefferson Senior High School his last year. He served on technical committees assisting in the development of computer programs. Prior to becoming a school administrator he was a bank cashier in Albert Lea and Ellendale, MN, and also a few years as a full insurance underwriter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bocce ball, and spending the winters in warm climates. He loved his wife, family and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents, John & Anna Lee, four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife Genelle; son, Terry Lee; daughter Pamela (Bob) Ackermann; grandchildren, Jason (Robinetta) Hodgkins, Rachel (Fred) Casillas and Shesh Christopher(Katie Schrattenholzer) ; great-grandchildren, Cataleya Casillas Aftyn, Paisely, Tandee, and Saige Hodgkins . Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday November 11th 10 am at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 9900 Lyndale Ave S, Bloomington. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
