Obituary for Rufino Samson Magno

Rufino Samson Magno died peacefully at Our Lady of Peace hospice in St. Paul on April 17 in St. Paul, MN aged 84 years. Rufino was 84 years old and is survived by his wife Remedios Pajarillo Magno, daughter Elizabeth (Steve) Pangerl, beloved granddaughters Julia, Freya, and Anna, sisters, Theodora Arevalo, Evangeline De Jesus, Remy Umali, and Precy Cruz, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Agapito and Maxima Samson Magno, his brothers, niece Anne Lukas, and several nephews.

Rufino was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the US in 1973. He was an alumnus and student leader of Jose Rizal University. He retired after a long career as a city planner for the Minneapolis Community Development Agency and earned a Master of Liberal Studies from the University of Minnesota at the age of 71. A deeply loved Daddy, Lolo, and Uncle, he will be remembered for his reassuring presence and ready smile, as a baby whisperer, master of the barbecue, and lifelong learner.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, April 23rd at 11 am ~ Church of St. Margaret Mary , 2323 Zenith Avenue North in Golden Valley, with visitation one hour prior to mass. Reception to follow ~All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Peace hospice in his honor would be appreciated.
