Obituary for Robert Walter Jorgensen

Robert “Bob” Walter Jorgensen, age 92, a resident of Peoria, Arizona formerly of Bloomington, MN passed away on April 7th in Peoria, surrounded by loving family. Bob was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1929 to Robert and Regina (nee Salden) Jorgensen.

After graduating as Senior Class President in 1948 at Roosevelt High School, Bob entered the NROTC program at the University of Minnesota. While at the U of M, Bob joined the fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, “AKPsi”- He received a commission as Ensign in the US Navy from the NROTC in 1952, along with a BS from University of Minnesota School of Business. Also, in 1952, he married Marlene Janet Ell. He began his active duty as a Lieutenant during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. Upon completion of active duty, he relocated his family to Bloomington, MN. Bob worked in the Twin Cities in advertising for 3M. He then worked as Vice President in print advertising and sales, at the Bureau of Engraving in Minneapolis. He began his own print advertising business, Printing Unlimited-JW Graphics, and merged with The Press in Chanhassen. He also continued his service with the US Navy, and rose to the Rank of Captain, in 1978; and remained so before retiring from military service. While Captain, he became the President of the Minnesota Navy League and the President of the Minnesota Reserve Officers Association. Bob was active at Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington and Palm Brook Country Club in Arizona.

Bob is preceded in death by his infant son, Robert ”Bobby”; wife, Kathleen; son-in-law, William H. Olson; sister Marjorie Christian Brown; Godson/nephew, Michael Christian and wife, Carole Williamson .
Bob is survived by children, Debra Lee (Brad Fader), son Richard Jorgensen, Shelley O. (Kyle Hansen) and their mother, Marlene Jorgensen; stepsons, Timothy (Denise) Wilson, Robert Wilson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

You taught us much about life, through your leadership and steadfast love. Adoringly, your family.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Wednesday May 4, 2022, at the Church of the Assumption, 305 East 77th St. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation ½ hour prior to Mass at Church.

Memorials preferred to The Western Golf Association Evans Scholars Foundation or Donor’s choice.
