Obituary for Richard Lawrence "Dick" Weiland

Richard "Dick" Weiland, age 76 of St. Louis Park died on February 19, 2023 with his wife, Sue by his side. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bernice Weiland; brother, Tom; father and mother-in-law, George and Pat Huber; sisters-in-law, Ann Miller and Maureen Weiland. He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Sue, who he married in 1983; siblings, Al (Mary), John, Steve (Sue), Leon (Kathy), Paul, Mary, Cecilia, Ed, and Karen (Leo). One of Dick's greatest joys was being surrounded by his many nieces and nephews, whom he cherished. Dick attended the University of Minnesota and was employed by the Courage Center, where he met Sue. He then worked at TCF Bank in Minneapolis for 24 years and retired in 2007. Dick had an undeterred faith and joy for life. He was an insatiable reader with a passion for history, especially the Civil War. He loved to travel, go around the city lakes, and spend time in northern, MN. Dick lived a full life with quadriplegia for 60 years. He was a role model to so many on how to fully live the life you are given, regardless of challenges and he did it with grace, courage, and humor. Memorial Mass of Resurrection 1:00 pm, Monday, February 27th at The Basilica of St. Mary, 88 N. 17th St., Mpls. with visitation beginning at noon and a reception to follow. Masks required. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights. Memorials preferred to the The Courage Center or The Jeremiah Program
