Obituary for Paul Marion Gaziano

Paul Marion Gaziano, age 47, of Minneapolis, died June 23, 2019. Paul graduated from Breck School and Macalister College. He received an MA degree in Social Science at the University of Chicago. He received a full scholarship toward a Ph.D. degree at Duke University and studied Italian Renaissance history in Florence and Rome. He was adept at Latin and Italian translation. He pursued a career outside of academia including web and internet work and research. Since 2014, he was a research assistant and partner in the education website company, Obimages.net. Paul loved quoting ancient Roman history, having read the original works. He had enjoyed ice hockey and skiing. And more recently, he was an excellent cook and avid bass fisherman. Paul struggled with depression and was tortured by sleeplessness. He died of an apparent medication overdose. Survived by parents, Emanuel Phillip Gaziano, MD (“Manny”), Cecilie J (Smith) Gaziano; and brother, Emanuel Phillip Gaziano, Jr. (“Manny”), all of Minneapolis, MN. Visitation at St. Joseph’s Chapel at Basilica of St. Mary from 1-2 PM Thursday, June 27. Funeral service 2 PM to follow in St. Joseph’s Chapel. There will be a meal service following the Mass.
