Obituary for May Louise McGuire (Seliga)
On Friday, April 30, 2021, May Louise McGuire, loving wife and mother, died at the age of 81. May was born May 14th, 1939 in Ely, Minnesota to Steven and Louise (Kosir) Seliga. She married Gary McGuire on September 4, 1965, and they raised their daughter April.
May had a passion for the outdoors. Raised in Ely, she grew up with a canoe on her back and a paddle in each arm. She did a lot of fishing and picked bucketfuls of blueberries and raspberries. She loved to spend time in her yard mowing, planting flowers, or just sitting out in the sun. She had a big heart and loved to give to others and always remembered birthdays and anniversaries.
May loved animals, especially dogs. Her little Shih Tzu, Benji, was the love of her life. She held him and spoiled him, and he showered her with love and happiness. He was always by her side or in her lap. May spoiled all the puppies in her life, and they all loved her for it.
May was preceded in death by her father, Steven; and her mother, Louise. She is survived by her husband, Gary; daughter, April McGuire and daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Panichi. She is also survived by her twin sister, June (Al) Bormann; sisters, Patsy (Jim) Kastama and Louise Ann O’Konek; brothers, Sonny Seliga and Danny (Delby) Seliga; and nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by all who crossed her path.
Funeral Service Friday, May 14th 2:00 p.m. Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave S., Minneapolis, MN 55419. Visitation starting at 1:30 p.m.
