Obituary for Mary Catherine Swartout

Swartout, Mary Catherine, Age 67. Born 5/12/1953 Minneapolis, she died unexpectedly at her home on December 22nd, 2020.

She was preceded in death by father Clarence, brother Phillip.
Survived by her husband Arnie Bjergo, son Seth (Trista) Bjergo, granddaughter Josie whom she adored. Mother Juanita, sisters Helen, Joan, Martha, Sarah and Paula, brothers Mike, Ed and Joe.
She had many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and in the Swartout tradition, extra family members.

Mary grew up in Minneapolis. She attended St. Margaret’s Academy High School. At the time, it was a Catholic all-girls high school where all the mischief you can imagine ensued.
Mary was a founding partner of Continental Clay Company. In addition to her daily life at Continental Clay, she taught Community Ed ceramics classes, was a vendor at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, and a board member in the early years at Northern Clay Center.
Mary played hockey (yes, she really did) in WHAM (Women’s Hockey Association of Minnesota). She was in a golf league and a book club with friends she’s known since high school. Mary was rarely on time for appointments, but this time she was far too early.

Memorials to family or donor’s choice. Visitation Sunday, January 3rd, 3 – 8 pm Gill Brothers, 5801 Lyndale Ave So, Minneapolis, MN. Private Funeral and Burial.
The family understands you may have your own personal distancing boundaries; a note to the family is very much appreciated. There is a plan to have an additional outdoor memorial service in the spring to honor Mary’s life and spirit fully.
