Obituary for Mary Lou Campion

age 85, peacefully passed to her eternal home on Sat., Jan., 2nd. She was born on Mar. 10, 1935 to Helen and Stanley Nelson in Minneapolis. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952 and attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. She married Michael Campion on June 25, 1955 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis. She worked as a secretary for many years including at the University of Minnesota at the Law School to the Assistant Dean, Mt. Sinai Hospital and Resurrection/Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. She has many lifelong friends and relatives that she has faithfully kept in touch with. Her vocation as a wife, mother and friend was serving other; that was her joy. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Mike; and her 8 loving children, Michelle Schick, Greg Campion, Gary Campion, Marcia (Scott) Koch, Teresa (Terry) Denzer, Jane (Terry) McClain, Paul (Yami) Campion and Robert Campion; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Judy) Nelson, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, and infant brother, James, and her son-in-law, Lou Schick. She was a Eucharistic Minister, knit many prayer shawls, a volunteer Befriender, as well as many other volunteer activities. Her faith and family were her life. She is irreplaceable and will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Fri., Jan., 8th at The Church of Our Lady of Peace, 5426 12th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55417. Mass will be live-streamed at olpmn.org. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thur., Jan., 7th at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave S., Mpls, MN 55419.
