Obituary

Marie Theresa Cooper passed away peacefully with family by her side at Lake Minnetonka Shores Presbyterian Home on May 2, 2019. Marie was born September 3, 1923 in Sauk Center, Minnesota to Joseph and Bernadine Botzet Dirnberger. Marie graduated from Sauk Center High School and then moved to Palm Springs, California with her family. At 24 years of age, Marie returned to Minnesota to marry the love of her life, James Cooper. They were married July 17, 1947.

Jim and Marie had three children - Merna, Jim Jr and Tom. The family enjoyed many summers in Sauk Centre on Sauk Lake. Marie and Jim were involved in Chorale Singers, cross country skiing, golf and many family activities. Marie enjoyed cooking, painting, sewing and gardening. Her greatest devotion was to her family, she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her other great devotion was to her faith. Marie was a member of St. Richards Catholic Church in Richfield, Minnesota. She was blessed by many wonderful friends.

All who knew Marie will miss her sweet and kind caring heart, thankfulness, gratitude, and humbleness. Marie expected little and gave much. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Lake Minnetonka Shores and Hospice staff, angels on earth.

Marie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim and two children, daughter Merna and son, Jimmy. As well as her dear siblings Bernie, Cec, Joe, Gene, Margaret, Leo, Jerry, and Johnny.

She is survived by her sister Gen and husband (Jack), son Tom and wife (Kelly), son-in-law Ed, daughter-in-law Barb and her precious grandchildren Ryan (Amanda), Julie, Jeff (Kelsey), Jordan, Tyler, Cody, Kadee and Ian, and great grandchildren Jamie, Ryder, Della and Oliver. Plus Marie’s many beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel Southwest Minneapolis on Tuesday, May 7th at 11am with visitation one hour prior to the service. A luncheon gathering will be held post the service at the Knights of Columbus in Bloomington. A private family burial will take place post the luncheon at Resurrection Cemetery.
