Obituary for Marian Leigh Clarke (Serrill)
Clarke, Marian L. died on August 2, 2019, preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1995. Marian was a quintessential mother and grandmother. She had a passion for people— a genuine love and curiosity for anyone she had the pleasure of meeting.
Marian was an active partner in the operation of the family farm for 29 years, and at various times, worked at the Elkton Grade School as a teacher’s aide/secretary, the local Soil and Water Conservation office, the Rochester School District working with severely handicapped adults and children, and as an executive secretary at the Physical Therapy School connected with the Mayo Clinic. She is survived by her 3 loving children, Sally (Jack) Evert, Steven Clarke, and Scott (Lynne) Clarke; 8 grandchildren, John (Amy) & Karl (Elizabeth) Evert; Christopher (Sandra), Michael, Geoffrey (Amanda) & Brian (Sara) Clarke; Shelby (Ben) Huhner & Taylor Clarke; 8 great-grandchildren, Kathryn Evert, Juan Carlos & Sofia Evert; Ania & Avyn Clarke, Jacob Clarke, Madilyn Clarke; and Sebastian Clarke.
Marian was a beloved resident of the Minnesota Masonic Home community during the last couple of years, where the excellent staff and new friends became her second family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Richfield United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11 a.m. Visitation one hour prior and a luncheon to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Minnesota Masonic Home or Richfield United Methodist Church.
