Obituary for Lyda Jeurink

On March 31st, 2021, Lyda Jeurink went home to be with her heavenly father at the age of 97. She is proceeded in death by her brother, Geert Jeurink; and sister, Geertje Jeurink. Survived by her sisters, Mien Scholten Jeurink & Dien Otten Jeurink; and nieces and nephews, Albert Otten, Anneke Otten, Gerrit Otten, Jenny De Haan Otten, Dianne Vonder Otten, Albert Jeurink and Jenny Beldman Jeurink.

Lyda was born April 13, 1923 in Kloosterhaar Netherlands. She moved to Minneapolis, MN at the age of 18 where she began her stay at the YMCA and learned to speak English. She later purchased a home in South Minneapolis near Lake Nokomis.

In 1954 Lyda started her own company, “Lyda’s Fashions”. She created unique pieces for some of the most affluent women in Minnesota. Lyda’s Fashions remained in business for over 40 years. To this day, some of her work can still be found at the Minnesota Historical Society.

In 1991 Lyda moved to Arizona where she built her home in the mountains overlooking the Phoenix skyline and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets.

Lyda was a one-of-a-kind, free spirit who was not afraid to speak her mind. She will be forever missed by the many friends and family that hold her memory so dear.

A visitation will be held at Lowmans Arizona Funeral Home: 717 W. Dobbins Road, Phoenix, AZ 85041 on Wednesday April 7th at 6:00pm. A service will be held on Saturday April 10th at 12:00pm at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55408.
