LaWayne Morseth age 93, of Edina, MN formerly of Minnetonka.
Passed away on January 10, 2021 at N.C. Little Hospice. Preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Gina Morseth; daughter, Mary Kay Morseth; sisters, Evelyn Johnson, Alice Nefstead, Ruth Morseth and Delores Bue; brothers, Harvey and Vernon. Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, LaRhea; daughter, Jana (Tom) Whear, grandsons, Jonathan, Matthew and Kristofer; son-in-law, Bruce Monroe; brothers, Harris (Leverne) and David (Martha); brother-in-law, Jim Johnson (Sandy); many nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
LaWayne was born on November 24, 1927 on a farm near Hendricks, MN. He graduated from Hendricks High School in 1945. In 1946, Lou enlisted in the US Navy where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1948. He then returned to Augsburg College and graduated with a degree in Mathematics in 1951, later earning a masters degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois. Lou taught math at Minnetonka High School for more than 30 years and served as an assistant football coach during his time there. After retiring in 1985, he taught math at the Frankfurt International High School in Germany and later taught part-time at North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, MN. Lou spent his retirement traveling, exercising, reading and volunteering in the community and at Minnetonka Lutheran Church. He had a quiet nature, a great sense of humor, was kind and always willing to help others. Lou will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Minneapolis Heart Institute, Allina Hospice and N.C. Little Hospice for their loving care during his final days.
