Obituary for Kathleen Elaine Dailey

Kathy was born on November 24, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up in south Minneapolis with her three brothers and three sisters. She graduated high school in 1961 from Vocational High School and Technical Institute in Minneapolis. Kathy attended Bethany Fellowship Bible College in 1967 and 1968. She received her OR Tech certificate in 1971 and her Pharmacy Technician degree in 1993.

Kathy married Julius Ludwig Awes I on April 12, 1975 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They had one son, Julius Ludwig Awes II on October 13, 1979.

She married Charley Elvin Dailey on April 18, 1986 and remained married to him until his passing in 1998.

Kathy worked at Deaconess Hospital from 1969-1979, first as a nursing aide then as an OR Technologist. She then stayed home to raise her son until going back to work at HCMC as a Pharmacy Tech from 1993 until 2007. She also worked part time at the VA Medical Center from 2001 until 2010.

Kathy was a fun, happy, loving, and hardworking mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Kathy's faith was very important to her and she loved going to church on Sundays to sing the good Lord's praises. Kathy enjoyed a good cup of coffee, and there wasn't a dessert or sweet treat that she didn't like. She delighted in putting puzzles together and playing games. She loved a fun day trip to the casino or just a long drive in the car. She liked watching Star Trek, White Christmas, and The Gladiator. She was always jamming along to music and her favorite was Whitney Houston's, "I Will Always Love You." In her younger years, Kathy enjoyed camping and fishing at Crosslake and entertaining. She especially loved Christmas. She loved to show her cooking and baking skills to celebrate Jesus' birthday and would have a wonderful evening meal around her beautifully decorated tree and home. To finish her favorite holiday, Julius would play Christmas carols on the organ. Kathy had a huge affection for all of her poodles. Most importantly, Kathy loved to go watch Julius bowl in his league and many tournaments.

In 2010 Kathy's diagnosis of dementia caused her to be done working. Julius became her primary caregiver. Trying to keep her life fun and full of happiness during these difficult times, Julius would keep her busy with different activities. They would do big and small things with trips to the Mall of America, lunches at Red Lobster (her favorite) or Highland Grill, games of bowling at Town Hall Lanes, walks to Lake Nokomis and Minnehaha Falls, stops for coffee and ice cream and church on Sundays.

In 2019, the dementia had progressed enough for Kathy to move from her home in Minneapolis, where Julius was caring for her, to Mount Olivet Careview Home to receive care until her passing. During the long battle with this disease Kathy's faith remained steadfast, and she is finally home in His loving caring arms.

Services will be held at a later date.
