Joyce Carol Kunkel
Age 89 of Minneapolis, MN died naturally November 18, 2019. Born July 13, 1930 in Melrose Park, IL to Lillian and Otto Kunkel. Survived by sister, Naomi Peterson; brother, Edward Kunkel; brother-in-law, Phil Klintworth; and cousin, Stephen Woehrle. She was loved and delighted by nieces Carol and Mona, nephews, Ross, Steve, Mark, and Paul; 10 great-nieces and nephews; including caregiver Naomi Volden.
Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Kathryn Klintworth; brother-in-law, Rod Peterson; and special aunts Emme Woehrle and Della Raines.
Joyce was a hairdresser in Wayzata and manicurist in downtown Minneapolis until her retirement this year. She took great pride and satisfaction in her work and had wonderful stories to share of the people she met. She was an elegant, generous, independent woman who knew what she liked. She will be remembered for her appreciation of beautiful things, good food, memorable sayings and zest for life.
Our gratitude to the known and unknown angels who helped Joyce with her dementia journey these past few years and kept her safe, especially her neighbors at Bush Terrace.
Funeral service and interment to be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis on December 21st at 2 PM. Visitation at the church one hour prior to service. Memorials preferred to Mount Olive Lutheran Church Foundation.
