Joe Sullivan, Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 30, 2020. He was 87 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Sullivan, Sr. and Martha Wade; brother, Mike and sister, Ann McCutcheon. He is survived by his wife, Monica; brothers, Denny and Jim; sister, Jan Stevens; sons, Denny (Ann), Dick (Anne) and Mike (Nancy); daughters, Terri (Pete) and Ann Colleran (Mike); grandchildren, Erin, Joe, Conor, Owen, Dorothy, Owen, Avery, Missy, Nicky, Tony and Luke. He retired from a career in advertising and marketing in 1990. In retirement, he was a historical columnist for Edina’s “About Town” magazine. He played in a harmonica trio, sang in the church choir and loved barbershop quartet singing. The sparkle in his eye and his welcoming and appreciative spirit drew others to him. There will be a visitation Thursday, September 3 from 4-6 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Avenue South. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 4 at St. Patrick’s Church, 6820 St. Patrick’s Lane, Edina, MN. Strict social distancing guidelines will be observed.
