Obituary for John James Linsmayer

John James Linsmayer of Golden Valley, MN – beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully and loved on February 10, 2020. He was 90 years old. Born September 3, 1929 in Minneapolis to Carl and Ruth Linsmayer, John was the youngest of six children. He lived life on his own terms and lived it well. He attended St. Thomas Military Academy and graduated in 1947; he attended the University of Minnesota and after serving in the US Navy, made his way to the west coast and the city of San Francisco. John then moved back to Minneapolis, the city he loved, to continue his zest for life, friendship and a good golf game. He joined the Minneapolis Golf Club in 1960 where he met many of his closest friends and remained a member for over 50 years. After settling in Minneapolis, John met his wife of 53 years, Karen. John loved his wife, his five children, his faith, friends, the spirit of competition and a good card game. John was known for his compassion, warmth, quick wit, being head of the “Skunk House,” and his unique sense of "entrepreneurship." He made those around him feel important and loved.
