John E. Folin of Mound, MN passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023. He was born in Brooten, MN on Jan 17, 1932 and graduated from HS there in 1949. He then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he met Jean Formo from Granite Falls, MN. After graduating in 1953, John and Jean found themselves teaching in Evansville, MN and did so until 1956, but not without managing to get married and spending the summer on Pelican Lake - Ashby in 1954. Windom, MN soon called them for new teaching positions and here John taught vocal music, directed choir at American Lutheran Church and welcomed their first son David in 1957. Paul followed in 1960 and the early lives of the Folin family were established with many lifelong friends from Windom, MN. In 1966, John and Jean moved their family to St Louis Park, MN and a new career in concert management with the fledgling Allied Concert Services. This work suited John and the company grew and flourished. His love of music and choral music in particular is owed to his time singing for Paul J. Christianson at Concordia College. But bringing professional musicians and great music to middle America became a labor of love over this lifetime. He also developed during these years a love for the National Lutheran Choir....which he supported for the rest of his life. After the loss of Jean in 1997, John was able to find new companionship with Priscilla Foline and they married in 2000. The two families blended well and shared holidays regularly and many other events and activities. John is preceded in death by wife Jean (Formo), parents Conrad and Ruth and brother Clinton. John is survived by wife Priscilla, sons and daughters-in-law David & Cindy Folin and Paul & Cindy Folin, Jeff Noyes, Tim Noyes & Joy Fulks, Baibi Vegners, and Amy & Jeff Wensman. Also surviving are grandchildren Ryan & Madeline Folin, Kelsey Folin and fiance Tyler Jackson and his son Theo, Perry & Stephanie Hartwig, Saria Noyes, Shandra Noyes, Adrianne Wensman and Alec Wensman, Luke Hartwig, and Beau, Rachael & Hannah Hartwig.
