Jeanne Marie Welch, age 80, of Bloomington, MN passed away peacefully on January 9, 2023. Jeanne was born on January 31, 1942 to her parents Hubert and Mary Gagnon in Eau Claire, WI. She became an elementary education school teacher and specialized in teaching kids who needed a little extra help. She was the best kind of teacher who sat on the floor with the students, used games, decks of cards and color to help students understand lessons while feeling proud of their accomplishments. She later married Ron Welch and settled in Bloomington to raise their three children. Her nurturing demeanor as a mother was her superpower. She was always there to teach, comfort, challenge and guide. Her sense of humor and quick wit were at the forefront of her personality which made her fun to be around.
In addition to working in the family business, Jeanne spent her time with friends and family playing games like Bridge, 500, cribbage, Nuts, and her all-time favorite, Words with Friends. She was the best kind of competitor by never giving her opponents a break and always being graceful at losing (which didn’t happen often because she was so sharp). Her family, especially the grandchildren, were the light of her life. Spending time at the cabin playing games, swimming, doing projects, hanging out at a campfire and fishing where some of her favorite activities. A great hamburger (hold the ketchup) with an ice-cold Diet Coke was her favorite meal. Chow mein, taco salad, shrimp salad and homemade Chex Mix were also right up there as her favorites. She was a night owl by nature and would tell us she had a “date” with Perry Mason at 10:30pm every evening. Even though she had seen each episode many times, she still enjoyed watching the show.
Jeanne will forever remain in the hearts of her children Jeff (Pam) Welch, Missy Wettstrom, Amy (Rafael) Bustos; grandchildren Samantha, Sarah, Carina, Colin; and her brother Steve Gagnon. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Welch, and her parents Hubert and Mary Gagnon.

A luncheon will follow directly after the service at the Bloomington Entertainment Center (Knights of Columbus) 1114 American Blvd. W. Bloomington 55420. Interment will be held on a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
