Obituary for Jean Marie Peterson (Galen)
JEAN MARIE PETERSON. Age, 92 of Edina, MN, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 21, 2021 in Minnetonka, MN. Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Peterson; her parents, Oscar Galen and Martha (Sukow) Galen; and brothers, Maynard and Duane Galen. Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Traci (Hermann) Peterson; grandchildren Amanda Jo, Tyler, Alexandra and Zachary; and many, many great friends.
Born on Sunday, October 7th, 1928, Jean was a member of the Minneapolis Aquatennial Aqua Follies synchronized swimmers as a young girl. She would go onto become a travel agent starting at Shilling Travel in downtown Minneapolis and ultimately had a very long career with AAA Travel working with international travel clients. She was able to travel to virtually every corner of the globe, both with John and many international trips on her own. Her stories could go on pages and pages.
She will be remembered for her impeccable sense of style, wonderful laugh, and her bright blue eyes. She has surely reunited with John in Heaven, where they can dance together once again and share a glass of their favorite wine.
The family would like to thank Sam from Interim Hospice for her care the last 8 months, and also the entire staff at the Walker Methodist Havenwood of Minnetonka facility for the excellent care for the last 17 months. Funeral service Monday, March 1, 2021 11:00 a.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Avenue South. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to service only.
