Obituary for James Edward "Deacon Jim" McLaughlin
Deacon James E. McLaughlin age 86 of Bloomington. Jim was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD and died peacefully on April 2, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fedalia and Clarence; twin brother, John; infant son, Patrick. Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Bobbie; son, Timothy (Kathy); daughters, Kellie (Steve) Kroll, Erin (Doug) Hahn; grandchildren, Ryan, Krysta (Ben), Jacob (Stacey), Evan, Joey; great grandson, Oliver.
Deacon Jim graduated from Washington High in 1950, attended Sioux Falls College and graduated from the U of SD. He was ordained a permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis in 1991 and has served Nativity of Mary the last 28 years. Jim was active with the Marian Council #3827 Knights of Columbus and Msgr. Meagher 4th Degree Assembly.
Mass of Christian Burial Saturday April 6, 2019 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity of Mary, 9900 Lyndale Ave. So. Interment Bloomington Cemetery. Visitation Friday 5-7 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave. So. and one hour prior to Mass at Church. Vigil prayers, 6:30 p.m. Friday. Memorials preferred to Nativity of Mary Church.
