Hazel Martha Eleanor Richie was born on June 24,1924, daughter of Adolph and Gertrude Kunde in Bellingham, Minnesota. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1942 and moved to the cities to attend beauty school. Hazel met Delbert Richie and they were united in marriage on November 7, 1942. Delbert and Hazel were involved as charter members of The Lutheran Church of the Redemption in Bloomington, MN where she was active in the Women's League and quilted for Overseas Missions. The couple lived in the Twin Cities until 1974 when they retired and moved to Alexandria. Hazel died on April 20, 2019 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by husband, Delbert; parents, infant brother and sister. She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Lanell) Richie of Webster, MN, James (Colleen) Richie of Eagan, MN; daughter, Susan (Dennis) Garvey of Northfield, MN; grandchildren, Shawn (Michelle) Richie of Bremington, WA, Denise (Jason) Hayes of Australia, Joseph Richie of Eagan, Serena Ridgeway of Eagan, Michael Garvey of Northfield and John (Betsey) Garvey of Northfield; 8 great-grandchildren and brother, Clarence Kunde. Funeral service 11a.m., Thursday, May 2nd at Lutheran Church of the Redemption, 927 East Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington with visitation beginning at 10:00. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Reception to follow interment. Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association.
