Obituary for Georgette Marie Imig (Gerber)

Georgette Marie Imig, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on November 21st, 2022 at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Imig, and brother Laurie Gerber. She is survived by her three sisters, Evadne Davis, Darlene (Patrick) Eckert and Barbarajane Drenth; brother-in-law, Chris (Laura) Imig; sons Adam Imig and Andrew (Alicia) Imig; seven grandsons; several great-grandchildren and numerous family members and friends.

Born to George and Jane Gerber on July 16th, 1950, Georgette was married to Paul Imig for 51 years and together they had two sons, Adam and Andrew. Georgette was a caring wife and mother who loved spending time with friends and family. Her greatest gift was her nurturing nature. She raised two kids to be strong, independent and compassionate adults. Georgette was devoted to caring for her family from when they were sick to supporting their endeavors, from new businesses to military service. Georgette worked hard to support her family with a variety of jobs from bus driver to supply associate to running the family garbage route when her husband was out with a back injury. Georgette enjoyed gardening, sewing, and caring for her family. She found beauty and peace in the sights and smells of the flowers she planted or found on walks. She was a quiet person who created a peaceful home environment where her children and other neighborhood kids would come and gather. Georgette’s life was founded on her faith, and she built a home based on her strong religious beliefs. She was very active in the church alongside her husband and was active in bible studies and other church activities. Truly she was a dedicated and wonderful mother, and we will dearly miss her smiles and hugs.

A funeral service is scheduled for November 29th, 2022, at 1pm at Corner Fringe Ministries located at The Master Presbyterian Church, 789 Northdale Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55448. Following the service, the internment will be held at Mound Cemetery in Brooklyn Center. A reception and sharing of memories will be held back at the church.
