Obituary for Gael Audrey Larsen (Larsen)

Gael Audrey Larsen, February 3, 1943 - June 14, 2019. Gael was born in Little Falls, Minnesota to Vernon and Dorothy Larsen. Gael loved life and learned to find great meaning in music at an early age. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN with a music degree and was privileged to sing under the direction of Paul J. Christianson. She also earned a Masters of Music from the University of Indiana. Gael loved children and choir and directed many choirs in her churches over the years. Many of her piano students went on to be very successful. Gael spent some years in mission work in Taiwan and Greece. She was instrumental in the growing Hmong community in the Twin Cities and formed an organization called “ACTS” “Asian Community Together in Service”. She dearly loved her Hmong friends, and her god-daughter Mandy Hayes of Montana, who was able to arrive in Minneapolis for Gael’s last day on earth. Most important for Gael was her faith and love of God, her church music ministry, her love of learning and travel, and time spent with her many friends. Her friends will miss her parties, her laughter, her humor, and her love for life. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Vernon Larsen, Karen (Robert) Brummer, Janice (Rodney) Johnson, cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial Service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22nd at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave S, Mpls. with visitation beginning at 10:00.
