Elda Cahill (Zachman)
Age 93 of the Minneapolis Veterans Home, formerly of Bloomington and Edina, passed away May 25, 2023 after a lengthy battle with dementia. Her happy-go-lucky spirit will be remembered by friends and family whom she cherished more than anything in this world.
Elda was a loving and caring wife, mom to three, nana to five, sister to ten, auntie to forty-two and dear friend to many. She is survived by her husband Rick, daughters Kim (Kevin) Friessen of Sioux City and Claudia Berk of Hutchinson Island, FL, son Brian (Stephanie) Cahill of Savage, her five "ever-lovin" grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Ayres, Lucille Baker, Donna (Roger) Dummer; brother Alvin Zachman. Preceded in death by parents Isadore and Mamie Zachman, brother Leon, sisters Elizabeth, Catherine, Belle, Millie, and Lenore.
She was enthusiastic and dedicated about each stage of her working life - at Minnesota Bankers Assn., stay-at-home-mom, and Lifetime Fitness Clubs. Elda genuinely loved being with people. An avid tennis player, Elda was also curious about far-flung destinations. She and Rick had many happy days traveling the world together, experiencing a diversity of cultures in journeying over five continents.
The family extends its gratitude to the caregivers at the Minneapolis Veterans Home for the loving care provided to Elda over the past four years, and the impressive Grace Hospice team in her final days. Mass of Christian Burial ~ Thursday, June 8th, 2023 at 11 AM. Visitation one hour prior.~ Church of Saint Patrick, 6820 Saint Patrick's Lane, Edina, MN. Services held in the Chapel. Luncheon following the service. Private family interment ~ Ft. Snelling National Cemetery
