On Thursday, March 16, 2023, Edward Michael Kepler Jr., loving father of two children, passed away at the age of 56. Edward was born on March 24, 1966 in Park Ridge, IL to Edward and Mary (Eiden) Kepler. He graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1988, and worked in Marketing and Web Development. Edward is survived by his parents Edward and Mary, his former wife, Colleen, and their children, Hope and Emmett, and his brothers Michael and Mark. Edward was often known as “Smiling Ed” for his big grin and affable demeanor. His son and daughter were the source of great joy in his life, and he was very proud of their accomplishments. He also had a passion for music that included time with Rock Camp for Dads and numerous local performances that showcased his skills in guitar, songwriting and singing. Edward was a fearless entrepreneur, with projects ranging from an early online bridal registry to urban farming. He had a love of aviation with trips to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum and ultralight flying experiences. He was excited to see his son take up flying and was always a devoted fan at both children’s many sporting events. Family, friends, and others are invited to the visitation at Gill Brothers Southwest Minneapolis Funeral Home, 5801 South Lyndale Avenue Minneapolis, Minnesota, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday March 25, 2023, to reminisce and honor the life of Edward.
