Austrums, Christopher Andrejs, age 47, beloved son, brother and uncle, passed away following a long illness on July 4, 2019. He is survived by his father, Andrejs Austrums; brother Tim Austrums; sister Julie (Austrums) Saul; sister-in-law Erica (Martin) Austrums; brother-in-law Nate Saul; nieces Emily, Elizabeth and Eliana Austrums and Audrey and Delia Saul;nephew Liam Saul; and his aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Austrums. He was born on May 24, 1972 and attended school in Minneapolis, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1994. Chris competed in the international Special Olympics in powerlifting and won gold, silver and bronze medals. Chris enjoyed music, dancing and meeting new people. Everyone he met was drawn to his gentle spirit. He inspired others to see the world through his eyes and find the joy in life’s simple pleasures. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Tue., July 9th at 12:30 p.m. Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave. S., Mpls. Visitation one hour prior and luncheon to follow.
