Obituary for Caroline Jeanette Melhus (Borsheim)

Caroline Jeanette Melhus passed away May 31st, 2020. Carrie was born September 11th, 1929 to Peter and Clara (Sunde) Borsheim in Paynesville, MN. She graduated from Paynesville High School in 1947, and after attending Augsburg College for one year she began her nursing education at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1951. She married her beloved Arthur Robert Melhus in 1953 at Nordland Lutheran Church. They welcomed five children into their family. Carrie worked as a Registered Nurse at Bloomington Lake Clinic and Lutheran Deaconess Hospital. She also worked for a time serving lunch for Minneapolis Public Schools before resuming her nursing career at Ebenezer Nursing Home in Minneapolis. Carrie was one of the first participants in Nokomis Healthy Seniors.
Her family is thankful for the tender care received from the staff and volunteers of Fairview Health Services, University of MN Hospital, Masonic Cancer Center, and Mount Olivet Homes, Careview Homes and TCU.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Caroline, and husband. She is survived by her children, Kari, Mary, Karna, Jon (Kim Berns-Melhus) and Ann; grandsons, Andrew (Lindsay) and Benjamin; great-granddaughter, Eleanor; sister-in-law, Shirley Peterson; nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a private interment at Nordland Lutheran Church, Paynesville, MN.
Memorials preferred to Nordland Lutheran Church, Bethel Lutheran Church (Minneapolis) or Mount Olivet Homes Auxiliary.
