Betty Jean Johnson
Age 91 of Bloomington, MN. Betty was born in their family home May 16, 1931 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Edward and Martha (Hausauer) Bucks. Betty and her two sisters helped on the family farm milking the cows, feeding the chickens, and working in the yard and the flower gardens. She graduated from Central High School in June of 1948. In her senior year she met Wilbur Johnson and was married February 20th, 1949. They had 51 wonderful years together. Betty and Wilbur raised three children, Carol, Marilyn, and Paul. Their life was full of love of family and many wonderful friends. When her children were older, Betty started her career as a sales consultant for Dayton-Hudson Corp/Marshall Fields/Macys. She was a dedicated employee for 32 years. Betty loved the outdoors, she had beautiful flower gardens and enjoyed sitting in their backyard gazebo and watching the birds. Betty and Wilbur enjoyed traveling to many Navy reunions over the years and visiting many US cities. Betty was a wonderful mother. She was kind and generous with her love and time to family and friends. She loved and was so proud of her grandchildren and excited to see her great-grandchildren. She had a life well lived and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceded in death by husband, Wilbur L. Johnson; sister, Arlene Koplen; and son-in-law, Al St. John. Survived by children, Carol St. John, Marilyn (Robert) Johnson, and Paul Johnson; grandchildren, Adam St. John, Troy St. John and Angela (Andrew) DeRung; great-grandchildren, Jackson St. John and Abigail DeRung; sister, Evelyn Smith; nieces and nephews. Funeral service Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 at 11 AM ~ Christ the King Lutheran Church, 8600 Fremont Avenue South, Bloomington, MN with visitation one hour prior to service. Private interment ~ Fort Snelling National Cemetery
