Obituary

Hale, Barbara Kay (Johnson-Lawrence), Age 79, of Mpls., MN, passed away peacefully on March 16th, 2020. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Catherine Johnson; husband, Wayne Lawrence; and sister, Margaret Johnson. Barbara (Barb) resided in Minneapolis for her full life. She was; creative, sporty, loved to decorate, had a good sense of humor, long hair and a beautiful smile! She had a passion for fashion and made her own clothes for her paper dolls when she was young. Barb was an excellent seamstress and attended fashion school later in life. In high school she played basketball. She like to tell stories of her first job; being a gift wrapper at Sears and waitressing at the Left Guard, where many Minnesota Vikings frequented. She loved music of all genres and was a unique, hip Grandma to her seven grandchildren. Her last years were spent in the Catholic eldercare Community, staying independent and watching a lot of good movies. Survived by daughters, Kathryn (Mark) Lawrence-Wankel, (father, Wayne Lawrence) and Kristina McLaughlin (father, James Hale); brothers David (Ginny), James, and Robert; 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren. Due to the covid-19 outbreak, a service honoring Barbs life will be held at a later date. In lieu of Flowers, memorials to the family can be sent to Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave. So., Mpls, MN 55419.

Mom was always joking around, even when she was in the hospital! She also loved thoroughly reading the hospital menu every time- even though it never changed.

Barb is a wonderful soul and her spirit will live on in our memories. I always enjoyed speaking with her, she had a sparkling personality. A wonderfully blessed soul. We will miss her. My sympathy and love to the family. Renee (Sister in law of Barb's daughter Kathy)
