Obituary for Annette Barbara "Annie" Tousignant (Guilbault)

Tousignant, Annette “Annie”
Age 83 of Bloomington passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 23, 2019.
Annie loved spending time creating beautiful gardens. She had a passion for drawing, painting and photography. She belonged to the Bloomington Affiliated Garden Club for many years and was a floral designer at Bachman’s. Annie appreciated all types of music and played both guitar and piano. Her affection for dogs led to many years of raising Cockapoos for her family and others to enjoy. During quiet moments, you could find Annie reading one of her many books. Her appetite for continually learning was apparent in her book choices.

In 1954, Annie married the love of her life Dick and spent the next 65 years sharing their love, laughter, and devotion to each other and their family. Their many vacations included camping, hiking, and exploring nature. They graciously shared their beautiful backyard and swimming pool which became the gathering place for many celebrations.

Annie spent many years teaching faith formation to children both at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church and started the senior high youth (Contact Group) with Dick at St. Edwards in Bloomington. During this time she led various fundraisers for families in need, especially at Christmas time. As a stay at home mom, Annie was very involved in her children’s activities, including Boy and Girl Scouts and Campfire Girls as both a leader and organizer. She was passionate about connecting youth with the community at The Masonic Home grandparents program and Meals on Wheels. Annie was a pioneer in the 1980’s when she began educating her youngest at home from kindergarten through senior high. Once her children graduated college, Annie began mentoring youth through Cornerstone, where she was paired with children affected by domestic violence.
