Fred James Parenti, age 96 of Minneapolis, formerly of Richfield, died on March 23, 2019. Preceded in death by wife, Josephine; parents, Dominic and Mary; brother, Robert and sister, Lorraine Halverson. Survived by daughters, Jacqueline Parenti, Valerie (Michael) Mitchell and Joan (James) Picha; grandchildren, Stacey, Annette and Jaclyn; 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Fred and Jo were charter members of The Church of St. Richard where they formed lifelong friendships with the Alfano and Andre families. He was a WWII Merchant Marine Combat Veteran and was active with the local Viking Merchant Marine Chapter. In 1965 Fred co-founded CEI and was committed to the business until his retirement. He had many hobbies including being a world traveler, avid biker and a gardener. Fred was a generous person and was devoted to the church. A special thank you to Grace Hospice and Mt. Olivet Careview Home for the loving care he received. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28th at the Church of St. Richard, 7540 Penn Avenue South, Richfield with visitation beginning at 10:00. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. If so desired, memorials preferred to donor’s choice.
