Obituary for William Edward Mullane

William “Bill” Edward Mullane, age 68, passed away on January 3, 2019. He is survived by his son, Darin Bertsch; siblings, Sue (Jim) Grahn, James (Pat) Mullane, Mary Karpinen, and Patricia (Mike) Peterson; Nieces and Nephews, Chris Grahn, Amy Grahn, Alison Grahn, Mary Mullane, Brian Karpinen, Jennifer Peterson, Corey Peterson and Jon Peterson. Bill was a man’s man; as tough as nails. He was a decorated war veteran with an impressive list of military accomplishments – though he rarely talked of them. After his time in the military he joined the Sheet Metal Workers Union, working with sheet metal for over 30 years. What made him a great metal worker, a steady hand with an eye for detail, also made him a great woodworker and photographer. He was stubborn up until the very end, refusing to let his cancer shake his spirit, or his sarcastic sense of humor. He was a tough man with a gentle heart. There are no words to describe the pain felt or void left from his passing. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave. South, Bloomington, MN. Visitation one-hour prior to the service and reception at David Fong’s following burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
