Nickel, Rev. Arthur H.
Age 97 of Minneapolis, MN. On July 11, 2012 a life of ministry ended peacefully. Born in Comstock, Wisconsin to Andrew and Regina Nickel on July 30, 1914. Arthur graduated from St. Paul Lutheran Academy, Wartburg College, Waverly, IA, and Wartburg Seminary, Dubuque, IA. Ordained into the Lutheran ministry in 1940, he served Lutheran congregations in North Dakota and Minnesota. Retiring after 39 years in the parish ministry, he continued to serve as a visitation pastor for parishes in Colorado and Minnesota. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, David and Mary, Paul and Barbara, Steven and Betty; grandchildren, Libby, Jason (Beth), and Anne (Lee) Hage; great granddaughters, Mary, Caroline, Grace, and Sophie. Visitation will be Thursday, 6-8 PM at Gill Brothers Southwest Chapel, 5801 Lyndale Avenue South. Memorial service Friday, 2 PM at the Chapel of Augustana Care Center, 1007 East 14th St. Mpls. with visitation beginning at 1 PM. Service of Burial Saturday, 2 PM, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clara City, MN with visitation at 1 PM. Interment immediately following. If so desired, memorials may be directed to Lutheran World Relief, Wartburg Seminary, or Augustana Care Center.
