Patrick James McPartland
Patrick James McPartland, age 76 of Bloomington passed away on March 11, 2012.
Preceded in death by his parents Michael and Margaret McPartland, sisters Lois, Patricia and Mary Lou, and grandson John Michael Raiter.
Husband of Elizabeth (Fallon) of 47 years. Father of Elizabeth (Shawn) Raiter, Rosemary (Brad) Gautsche, and Patrick (Jennifer) McPartland. Grandchildren Shane, Reese, Jacob, Aly, Ryan, Ava and Ruby.
After graduating from Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Pat attended the University of Minnesota and then the University of Minnesota law school. He worked as an Assistant Minnesota Attorney General for several years and then started in the legal department at the Soo Line Railroad. Pat worked in the legal department at Soo Line / Canadian Pacific Railroad for nearly 40 years where he handled a variety of legal matters, including injury cases and trials. He retired in 1997 but held a lifelong love of the railroad. He was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Richard's Catholic Church in Richfield for nearly 50 years. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was quick to offer a joke, funny story or words of encouragement. Pat enjoyed following all sports but especially liked hockey and any team with Catholic or Irish roots. He was one of the founders of the Figure Skating Club of Bloomington and enjoyed watching his daughters and granddaughters compete in figure skating. He previously coached youth hockey in Bloomington and enjoyed watching his son and grandchildren play hockey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Richard's Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, 11:30 AM, March 15, 2012 at the Church of St. Richard, 7540 Penn Ave S. Mpls. Visitation will begin one hour prior to Mass at the church on Thursday. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
