Janet Houley Spokes
Janet Houley Spokes, died of cancer on August 4, 2012. She was born on April 16, 1928, in Rochester, New York, the second child of Angelica and Ignatius Houley, both deceased.
She married Peter R. Spokes on April 15, 1950. Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Katherine Spokes (Anne Drolet) of Boston, Carolyn Robinson of Washington D.C., and John Spokes (Casey Stangl) of Los Angeles; by daughter-in-law, Barbara Spokes; a brother, William Houley (Judy); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet’s loves were centered on her faith in God, her family, her church. She was a member of Saint Olaf Catholic Church since moving to downtown Minneapolis in 1996. Janet became involved in Spiritual Direction ministry at the Cenacle (Wayzata) and Sacred Ground (Saint Paul) and has been actively engaged in it for over twenty-five years.
The Funeral Mass will be at Saint Olaf Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 preceded by a reviewal at the church one hour before and followed by hospitality in the Gathering Room. Memorials may be sent to Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, the Guthrie Theater or Catholic Relief Services.
